The Cairn Curran Reservoir is located about 10km west of Maldon and is an incredible place to visit, whether you're looking for somewhere peaceful to escape the city, or want to get out and explore some of Victoria's natural beauty while visiting Maldon.
There are numerous boat ramps and places to picnic and fish along its shores. In summer it beckons swimmers, yachties and water-skiers. Moreover, there's a wonderful variety of birds that can be easily observed from the shoreline.
There are also plenty of hiking trails available if you're looking for something more challenging and if you're looking for great free camping spots in the Maldon area, Cairn Curran Reservoir is definitely worth checking out.
